Here is another example of HInekiaoterangi sharing her character description to our class whanau.  The audience members are checking their checklist before giving her the thumbs up because they can hear she has included that section of our success criteria.

In this picture Merenia and Reremoana are showing us how they buddy check each other's writing.  In this task the students were writing a description of an imaginative character.  At the beginning of the writing task we co-constructed our success criteria so we all knew what we had to use in our character descriptions.  However we soon realized during our buddy writing check that some of us hadn't included enough detail into our description.

Classroom Warm-up.
To help our thinker dinkers warm up before our grouped maths activities we play a game of number knowledge or family of facts.  Here is an example of Te Aue, Niamya and Reremoana writing the answers for our whole class to check.  Tau Ke Koutou!

The Dazzling Dividers.

In our classroom we love to share our learning.  It shows Whaea what we have learnt to do by ourselves and it gives an opportunity for us to teach the other children what we have learnt.  In this photograph we have Israel, Niamya and Jose sharing with the children their learning intention.  On this day they were learning to split a 7 into a 5 and a 2 to multiply.
Eg:  7x2=   (5x2) + (2x2)  10+4=14.

Jose's Character Description.
As an extension to our buddy writing check we decided to use visual art to draw an illustration of our imaginative characters.  In this video Jose is sharing his description.  The audience members are listening to his story and evaluating whether he has used our success criteria.  The children flick him a thumbs up when they hear parts of the criteria covered.

Therefore one of my goal's for the coming term is to capture and upload all the wonderful learning experiences the children are involved in regularly. 
As an attempt to provide a snap shot of learning experiences covered during the beginning of the year I will post them up now.
