Last term we all participated in our school wide skip-a-thon. We would like to say thank you to Matua Mark and Whaea Ardelle for organizing a fun day for us all. I would also like to thank all the parents that supported their child to get sponsors to help raise money for Middle Syndicate sports equipment. Mauri Ora.
As a way to 'boost' or writing progress we have designed writing group posters for our classroom environment. These charts tell us exactly what we need to work on to move towards the next level of writing. In the photographs illustrated below the students are creating their own examples of what each of these learning goals look like. Tau Ke Tamariki ma!! You are fantastic learners.
Hinekiaoterangi's character description
Here is another example of HInekiaoterangi sharing her character description to our class whanau. The audience members are checking their checklist before giving her the thumbs up because they can hear she has included that section of our success criteria.
In this picture Merenia and Reremoana are showing us how they buddy check each other's writing. In this task the students were writing a description of an imaginative character. At the beginning of the writing task we co-constructed our success criteria so we all knew what we had to use in our character descriptions. However we soon realized during our buddy writing check that some of us hadn't included enough detail into our description.
To help our thinker dinkers warm up before our grouped maths activities we play a game of number knowledge or family of facts. Here is an example of Te Aue, Niamya and Reremoana writing the answers for our whole class to check. Tau Ke Koutou!
The Dazzling Dividers.
In our classroom we love to share our learning. It shows Whaea what we have learnt to do by ourselves and it gives an opportunity for us to teach the other children what we have learnt. In this photograph we have Israel, Niamya and Jose sharing with the children their learning intention. On this day they were learning to split a 7 into a 5 and a 2 to multiply.
Eg: 7x2= (5x2) + (2x2) 10+4=14.
Well done Dazzling Dividers!
First and foremost I would like to thank Matua William for spending time showing me how to breath life back into my class weebly page. His assistance has helped me to redesign my page and has inspired me to make regular updates onto this page.
Therefore one of my goal's for the coming term is to capture and upload all the wonderful learning experiences the children are involved in regularly.
As an attempt to provide a snap shot of learning experiences covered during the beginning of the year I will post them up now.
